Waxed Canvas
Waxed canvas is a durable and water-resistant material that is perfect for everyday use. However, over time, the wax coating can begin to wear away. To maintain the water resistance and longevity of your waxed canvas bag, we recommend reapplying a coat of wax every 6-12 months, or more often if your bag is exposed to harsh conditions.
Here's how to rewax your waxed canvas bag:
- Clean the bag: Brush off any dirt or debris from the surface of the bag. You can also wipe it down with a damp cloth to remove any light stains.
- Let the bag dry completely. It is important for the canvas to be dry before applying wax.
- Apply a thin coat of wax. You can use a commercially available wax specifically designed for waxed canvas, or you can use beeswax. Apply the wax in a thin, even layer using a clean cloth.
- Heat the wax. Use a hairdryer on a low heat setting to melt the wax into the canvas fibers. Be careful not to overheat the wax, as this can damage the fabric.
- Buff the bag. Once the wax has cooled, buff the bag with a clean cloth to give it a shine.
